Voices Israel Annual Anthology

The Voices Israel Group of Poets in English annually publishes an Anthology of poetry.

Volume 34 of the Voices Israel Annual Anthology for the year 2008 has been posted off to subscribed members of Voices. This issue is the largest yet issued, and is composed of 248 pages!  See prices below.  

Volume 35 of the Voices Israel Annual Anthology for the year 2009 is now at the printers.

 Submissions for volume 36, to be published in 2010, are welcome until 7 October 2009.  Poems received after that date will be considered for the 2011 Anthology.

Anyone, anywhere, is welcome to submit a maximum of 4 poems to the Anthology. Poems must be in English but may be on any topic and in any style. Poems preferably should not exceed 40 lines and should be without tricky graphic effects

Anthology Submission Guidelines

Editors: Our new anthology co-editors will be Sheryl Abbey and Michael Dickel. 

Deadline: Please send submissions for Voices Israel Anthology, Volume 36 at the latest: 7th October, 2009- postmark or email deadline.

If you have no access whatsoever to email you may submit your manuscript -follow format guidelines under "What to send"- by regular mail following the above guidelines, to:

What to send: Please send one copy of up to four poems of no more than 40 lines each. 
We prefer your submission to be by email in a single Word or RTF file— one poem per page, with pages consecutively numbered.  
No identifying information should appear on the pages with the poems.

On a separate cover page in the same file include your name, address, email, phone number, titles of the poems as they appear in the manuscript, and a short bio (not to exceed seven lines). 
The acceptance process is anonymous and the poems will be forwarded to the editorial board without names.  
No revisions of poems will be accepted after submission!

Fee: There is no fee for submitting poems to the Anthology; however, as a apid-up member of  Voices Israel at NIS100 or US$35 per year you will receive a copy of the annual Anthology at no extra charge.  
As a member you will also receive the monthly newsletters, notifying you of local workshops and monthly poetry readings that take place in Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv and Haifa.  

Without membership you may purchase a copy of the anthology in advance  for a contribution of NIS 30 / US$15, whether you are published or not (includes shipping). 
If you decide to wait until the Anthology is published and then order a copy, the price is NIS 40 / US $20.  Members of Voices Israel, prize winners and honorable mentions in the Reuben Rose competition are entitled to one free copy of the Anthology.

We do not guarantee publication of any poem. In poems that we publish we reserve the right to correct obviously unintentional errors in spelling, punctuation, etc. Upon publication we return copyright to the poets but retain re-publication rights ourselves and in any other re-publications we ask that Voices Israel be acknowledged. 
Please inform us if a submitted poem has been published previously or if you do not own full rights for publication.
If you submit a translation, please attach a copy of the original poem.

Purchasing the Voices Anthology

One copy of the Voices Anthology is provided free to paid-up members- see Membership for cost.

As a non-profit organization, the cost of the anthology is minimal, i.e., to cover postage and printing fees. Thus, copies of the Voices Anthology are available for a low cost to members and non-members alike. Non-members pay a nominal surcharge. Back issues, if available, can also be ordered.

If the year is not specified, the most current Annual anthology will be sent. For back issues, be sure to specify which anthology you want and ALWAYS provide your mailing address!

At the same time that the next Anthology is being prepared, our 20th International Reuben Rose Poetry contest is in progress.

The Judge: the poet John B. Lee. In 2005 John B. Lee. He  was named Honorary Life Member of The Canadian Poetry Association.

A total of $800. of prize monies will be given to the top three entries.
